Through the Student Program, the South Sea Exclusive Foundation gives students the opportunity to contribute in achieving the goals of the Foundation. We accomplish this by providing the students with the means, or a pathway towards a thesis, internship or a voluntary position in one of the projects of the Foundation or another local organization or company.
Students work together with local students in paired teams, thereby maximizing the transfer of knowledge and increasing the potential success of a better future for the Philippine students. On the other hand, by working together with a local student, the cultural experience for both students will be unforgettable.
Why Palawan?
Palawan is described as “the last ecological frontier’ of the Philippines and is characterized by the beauty and uniqueness of its nature. Palawan is considered a biodiversity hotspot and has a high number of endemic species, a high forest cover and a rich underwater world.
In other words, Palawan is a beautiful tropical island where you have the chance to contribute to help the island towards a more sustainable future. You gain fieldwork experience in the tropics, you interact with local students, learn the local language and discover Palawan in your free time.
Besides your thesis or internship, you will set up a ‘hands on project’, which relates to your thesis or internship. With this project you will organize an event with direct results, such as coastal clean up, workshops or fundraising activities. Furthermore, you will learn how to work in a developing country, improve your communication and organization skills, and experience the appreciation of the local people for your work.
The South Sea Exclusive Foundation provides you with supervision, and will assist you with the project. As an international organization, we provide a friendly and intercultural environment.
