Foundation Profile

South Sea Exclusive Foundation

The South Sea Exclusive Foundation is a non-profit organization, which is linked to South Sea Exclusive, a sustainable mariculture company. The Foundation intends to contribute to the improvement of the 'quality of life' of the local community and environment of the island Palawan, located in the Philippines. This is done by executing projects that are practical, small scaled, environmental friendly and long lasting. Social acceptance is essential for the Foundation; we always organize the projects in cooperation with the local community.

The Foundation works together with local partner organisations. By combining the knowledge, skills and experience of the South Sea Exclusive Foundation and the local organisations, the projects are more effective and better adapted to the local needs.

South Sea Exclusive contributes 5% of its profit to the Foundation, thereby providing it with a stable, secure and operational income. Besides financial support, the company also shares knowledge with the Foundation.

Mission

"The South Sea Exclusive Foundation strives to contribute to A Sustainable Future for Palawan", acting on the following focus areas:

  • Livelihood: creating sustainable livelihood initiatives for coastal communities.
  • Conservation: protect and restore coastal ecosystems.
  • Education: making Palaweños aware of the importance of their natural resources.

This figure shows the three focus areas of the Foundation and the interrelation between them. We believe that an integrated approach of these three focus areas is required to carry out our mission of contributing to ‘A Sustainable Future for Palawan’.
